2. Jack White has announced the latest creation of Third Man Records. In following up with the Double Decker album, a 12 inch with a 7 inch record inside, White has announced the Triple Decker. This new concoction contains a 12 inch with a 7 inch on the inside with a CD within the 7 inch. White claimed, "We're really bringing a new experience to music. This isn't a gimmick. 3. The New York band Yeah Yeah Yeahs have revealed a change in direction for their next release. The band, which has yet to announce their next album, will be renaming themselves. The No No No's will be the next name for the trio. (PhonoFun)

4. Bjork is set to release a new album. The album, which will be heavy metal instead of Bjork's usual pop sound, is set to released sometime, possibly never. Inspired in part by the work of Slayer, Bjork told reporters lots of words in a quiet and incoherent fashion, none of which the writers could decipher. (DeckCheck)

1. At SXSW Jack White unveiled his newest idea, the rolling record store. The record store on wheels, which sells Third Man Record albums, t-shirts, and other paraphernalia. (via Third Man Records)

2. Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz fame, is set to star in a musical that he himself wrote. The play will be performed in London and will be based around a 16th century spy, John Dee. (via BBC)

3. It has been confirmed that there will be a collaboration between Radiohead frontman, Thome Yorke, and Doom. Not much else is currently available about their upcoming project. (via Pitchfork)

2. Danger Mouse and Jack White are set to work on a collaboration together called Rome. The work, which features Danger Mouse and a variety of other artist, is set to release on Capitol Records in May. (via Pitchfork)

3. The Fresh & Onlys lead, Tim Cohen, is readying an upcoming solo album titled Magic Trick. The album will be out on February 22. (via Exclaim!)

4. The music streaming website SoundCloud has recently hit the milestone of three million users. The site has grown by a third since the beginning of the year. "To see this kind of exponential increase is incredible," said the founder of SoundCloud Alexander Ljung. (via NME)

After realizing that a fan ticket exchange site had been selling tickets to the final LCD Soundsystem show in New York at inflated prices, frontman James Murphy responded by telling those selling at inflated prices to "eat shit." 1. Among the biggest news of the week included The White Stripes finally calling it quits. The band released an official statement on their website discussing that they will not be recording any new material, or planning any future tours. 2. Hot Chip's lead singer Alexis Taylor has announced details on the second album of his side project. The side project, which is named About Group, will release their sophomore album called Start and Complete in April. (via NME)

3. Death From Above 1979 have unveiled new information about the band's reunion. After surprising information came out that the duo would be playing several festivals in the near future, drummer Sebastian Grainger has expanded upon the reasons for the reunion. He stated, "Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied. Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration. The collision of two different worlds." 2. Tom Waits will be teaming up with his record label Anti- to release a poem that Waits wrote in conjunction with a collection of images of homeless individuals by photojournalist Michael O'Brien. The work, which will be released on February 22, will have all of the proceeds go towards helping Redwood Food Bank, Sonoma County's Homeless Referral Services, and Family Support Center supported through Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa. 1. Don Van Vliet, more popularly known as the iconic experimental rocker Captain Beefheart, passed away on December 17 due to complication from multiple sclerosis. The Michael Warner Gallery that represented his work as a painter officially announced his death, and in a statement said, "Don Van Vliet was a complex and influential figure in the visual and performing arts." 2. Singer-guitarist of Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore, has announced plans to work on a solo album. The album, which will be produced by Beck, is titled "Benediction" and will be released on Matador Records. (via Philadelphia Weekly)

3. Das Racist was recently detained and deported from the United Kingdom after being stopped at customs. The group has claimed that they were detained for over eight hours after problems with paperwork. Following their wait, they were sent back to Switzerland. (via DasRacist.net)

4. After completing a song for an upcoming movie, in an interview with Pitchfork, The National's Aaron Dessner has mentioned a collaboration between the band and singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten. 1. Singer Nick Cave was involved in a car crash Tuesday December 8. Cave smashed his car against a speed camera on the Hove seafront in Sussex, England. Cave and his two sons who were with him walked away from the collision unharmed. He refused to comment on the incident, and no other cars were involved. (via BBC)

2. After completion of the Tron Legacy soundtrack, Daft Punk will now be getting their own line of merchandise from Disney. The merchandise that Disney will be offering in promotion of the film and soundtrack include a set of light-up headphones, and a set of toys that depict their likeness. (via Pitchfork)

3. Los Campesinos! have announced plans to release a quarterly magazine titled Heat Rash. The publication will include a 7' single, and exclusive tracks to download from the band. 4. After announcing the process of recording an entire album on an iPad, Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn is planning on releasing said album for free on Christmas Day. 5. The British super-group formed out of members of The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys have detailed information about the release of their debut album. The group, named The Bottletop Band, is prepared to release their album in April. (via NME)

1. Arcade Fire have been nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year with their latest release "The Suburbs." In response to the nomination member Win Butler stated, “We are very proud of the record we made and feel incredibly blessed that so many people have gotten it! 2. Actor Michael Cera is now playing in the new Sub Pop band Mister Heavenly. The actor, known for his roles in Juno and Arrested Development is now the bass player for Mister Heavenly. However, this does not make him an official member of the band as indicated by a Sub Pop representative who said, "As of right now he is not an official member, just playing with the guys on this tour." 3. The Joy Formidable have given information about their debut full length. The album titled "The Big Roar" is due to be released in the UK on Jan. 24 and in the US a couple of months later on March 15. (via NME)

2. Justin Vernon, more commonly known as Bon Iver, is set to play alongside Megafaun at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham this September. 3. Interpol has signed back to Matador records. After releasing their 2007 album Our Love to Admire on Capitol, the band is set to release their album this year on their old record label. (via Paste)

5. Dave Sitek is set to record an album alongside Karen O, and it will be released in August. The album is set to have a more dance based feeling. 2. Luke Steele of Empire of the Sun has revealed that he hasn't spoken to his bandmate Nick Littlemore since last February. But Steele isn't put off by not seeing Littlemore saying, "Once it (the tour) starts it becomes the norm. You've got to keep the show on the road. This is rock 'n' roll." (via NME)

3. Portland Mayor Sam Adams has, among other things, a portrait of Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock. The singer, who is standing in front of a boar, dressed in lederhosen, and holding a guitar, recently stopped by the mayor's office to see the portrait that Alexander Rokoff created in person and answer a few question with the artist about it. 4. MGMT has released rather specific details on their new audio recording at live shows. The band will have special sections at live shows where fans will be allowed to record the band and they will be prohibited to record anywhere outside of this reserved area. 5. Belle and Sebastian has announced their first tour in quite some time. The band is planning on a short tour with about nine dates in the U.S. in the fall. The band is also close to finishing off their next album saying they were in "final stages of recording the new album." (via Spinner)

1. Arcade Fire has announced specifics for their upcoming album entitled The Suburbs. Earlier in the week, the band released a special 12'' single with two songs from the upcoming album. They have also announced a release date in early August. (via NME)

2. MIA has recently tweeted the phone number of a New York Times journalist who recently published an article that detailed the artist in an unflattering light. In response Lynn Hirschberg, the writer whose number was publicly released, responded saying, "She's a provocateur, and provocateurs want to be provocative." 2. Xiu Xiu wants your hair. Yes, the art-pop band wants locks of your hair for their upcoming music video. The idea is that you hand them locks of your hair at shows and get some swag from the band. Currently the band is planning on filming themselves lighting the hair on fire while saying the name of the person who the hair had belonged to and inhaling the smoke. Yep. (via Pitchfork)

3. The Kills report that they are three-fourths of the way complete with their follow-up with to 2008's "Midnight Boom." The band is planning on completing the album when Alison Mosshart finishes up touring with The Dead Weather. (via NME)

1. You Say Party! We Say Die!'s drummer Devon Clifford passed away after a gig the band was playing in Vancover. After collapsing on stage, the band asked fans to call 911, and Clifford was soon after rushed to a near-by hospital. Clifford died on the April 18th after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage. Clifford was 30-years-old. (via NME)

2. Broken Social Scene has announced that they will be releasing a bonus EP alongside their upcoming full length. The EP will be available to those who either pre-order or purchase a physical copy of the album. The 10 track EP is entitled "Lo-Fi for the Dividing Nights." (via Pitchfork)

3. The collaboration between Danger Mouse, Mark Linkous, and David Lynch entitled "Dark Night of the Soul" will be officially released July 13th in the US. The album is dedicated to Vic Chesnutt who died after contributing to the album. The official release also comes after the suicide of Linkous. The album was initially leaked online and the collaboration originally "released" the album as a picture book including photos by Lynch with a blank CD that had a sticker on it which said, "Use it as you will." 4. Crystal Castles are to rush-release their upcoming album. The change in dates is coming after their upcoming full length was leaked online. This comes alongside the news that, along with many other bands, Crystal Castles had to cancel tour dates due to volcanic ash that has been interfering with European airlines. (via NME)

4. Supergrass has sadly announced that they will be breaking up. Jokingly the band cited a "17 year itch" for the reason for breaking up. 5. Rumors that Rob Pattinson will be playing the role of Kurt Cobain in the biopic about the 90s grunge rocker. After being offered to record a song for the Twilight soundtrack she said, "They asked me-- luckily Jimmy (Lovine, boss at Interscope) had beef with the Twilight people, so he stepped in and told them to fuck off." M.I.A also came out against Lady Gaga stirring up reactions in fans saying, "People say we're similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently," she said, "but she spits it out exactly the same. 2. Wilco will be curating their own festival at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. The band will be headlining the "Solid Sound Festival." 1. The Libertines are set to reunite after they played their last show together in 2004. The band is set to play both the Reading and Leeds festivals. All 4 of the original band members will be returning in late August. The only area of uncertainty has been the status of Pete Doherty who has run into problems with the law as of late. 2. Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse is currently in the process of writing for a Cartoon Network show entitled "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack." 4. Concert promoter Live Nation has started testing new digital wristbands that would allow concert-goers the ability to purchase concessions and work as the ticket for a show or festival. The technology, which is used to help fight against touting, uses smart chip technology to track the audience. 5. Radiohead has confirmed that an email that had been circulated by a large number of fans, was a hoax. The email in question detailed that the next release from Radiohead would be called "Tehrangles." A spokesman for Radiohead said to NME, "Most of it is made up and there is no album or album title."
