Fastmed urgent care has many locations around North Carolina. Not only do they provide medical care, but they also run a program to keep our state's athletes out of the hospital in the summer. Deondre' has more on Fastmed and there Keep Cooler program.

N.C. State is ushering in a whole new college to unify our sciences. This college is bringing forth a plethora of new opportunities for our students and the public. Here is my interview with Dean Solomon of the new College of Sciences.

EOT120 SPB Resignation 6/25/13

Some very big changes took place on the student leadership front on campus, leaving us with a new student body president and plenty of unanswered questions. Deondre seeks to answer a few of those in this next story.

Take any political election, and you're likely to find some amount of violations of code or conduct, and our school election is no different. Deondre’ Jones has more.

Gene Zhirnov recently had the chance to speak with one of the students currently running for president of the student body. Matthew Williams dropped by to speak with gene about the election and what he would do if elected student body president.

Now, we were curious about how you, the Wolfpack, felt about all this campaigning on campus recently. Do you love it? Glad it’s over? How interested are you? We went to find out.

The Hellzapoppin’ circus will be making a stop tomorrow night at the Pour House in downtown Raleigh. Andrew recently had the opportunity to speak with Brice “The Guvnuh” Graves about just what the hell the Hellzapoppin’ circus is.

Last year UNC physics professor Paul Frampton was sentenced to four years of house arrest for attempting to smuggle drugs through Argentina. Here’s Deondre’ with more.

In honor of N.C. State’s  anniversary, the university hosted different speakers and scholars on spurring innovation in the workplace here in the Triangle area, and the role that N.C. State plays in spurring growth.

Recently, a controversy has broken out over the alleged mishandling of cases of reported rape and other sexual assault crimes on the campus of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Deondre’ Jones did a little research into this worrying problem.

Our very own Jasmine Shepherd was recently one of the hosts of a charity date auction, where bidders got the chance to bid on dates with different participants.

As a rule, I try to keep personal opinions regarding serious issues off the air. But recently our new governor has outlined some of the changes he hopes to implement with regards to our state’s higher education funding.

James McLay is the New Zealand ambassador to the United Nations. He is currently visiting N.C. State, giving talks about the importance of international relations and New Zealand’s place on the World stage. Jake was recently given the opportunity to have lunch with the ambassador.

Three new statues are currently in the planning stages for the campus Coach's Corner. If erected, these would commemorate three N.C. State coaches of legendary status.

Grant Buckner spent his spring break in Chicago, working with residents in some of Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods. Here is his report from the March 19th episode.

Liberty in North Korea is an advocacy group that travels the country on behalf of the oppressed people of North Korea. Here is Deondre’s story from March 27th.

The North Carolina State Rocketry team competed in a National competition to get a rocket one mile into the air. Some listeners might remember Nick Savage. Here is the conversation he had with the team from the April 10th episode.

In that period just after the peak of Summer, right before the hush of Fall creeps over campus, you can always count on the farmer’s market opening up for the first time. The first time you see it open, you know the school year has begun. Here’s Gene Zhirnov from August 28th.

Last August, the world lost a great pioneer in Neil Armstrong. Here from the August 28th episode, is Andrew Eichen’s reflection.

Last August, N.C. State tried to break a North Carolina record by donating one thousand, two hundred, and fifty pints of blood in honor of North Carolina state’s one hundred and twenty fifth anniversary. Although the university ultimately fell short of its goal, Jake decided to record the experience of giving blood for the first time.

Nubian Message is the premier African American student newspaper here at NC State. And this year, it turns twenty! Jake recently sat down with the newspaper’s editor Kierra Leggett to discuss the newspaper’s history and future.

It’s always important to promote local music, and WKNC is particularly good at that. This week, Grant Buckner spoke with the local band, Eagledown.

Modern slavery is a topic that perhaps many don’t dwell on too often, but it is a problem. And not just abroad. If you know what to look for, you can sometimes find slavery right here in North Carolina. Gene Zhirnov has more.

We're at the height of flu season right now, and  as is often the case with large groups of people spending lots of time near each other, it can often be easy to get sick, and getting over an illness is not fun, as Deondre’ can attest to. It got him thinking, how can one safeguard against getting sick, or what should you do if you fall ill? With exams around the corner, that’s the last thing anybody needs.

Are We Looking At Another 2000?

As the final week before Election Tuesday begins, nobody seems to have any answers as to just who or who may not hold the lead in this year’s presidential election. As more and more politicos seem to agree that the House may yet again remain in control of the Republicans, the White House race seems just too close to call. In fact, the word “chaos” seems as apt as a descriptor as any. Charlie Cook, of the highly respected Cook Political Report has suggested that for the second time since the 2000 election, the winner of the popular vote might not be the winner of the Electoral College vote. This scenario was of course thought to be highly improbable, and had been a rare occurrence in American presidential politics. Then came the presidential election of 2000, an election still studied as an anomaly, a once in a thousand years occurrence. The idea that it could happen again, as improbable as it may seem now, is not impossible.

If there is one thing that this election cycle has proven, it is that there are still plenty of factors that could turn this race at any moment. Before Denver, there were few that thought much could hurt the Democratic incumbent in the race. Since his lackluster debate and the Republican candidate’s stellar performance in that first encounter, the race has tightened considerable, despite two other debates since then.

It would be foolish to downplay the possibility that something could, even at this late stage in the race, upset the race in favor of one candidate or the other. One wild card that could have an influence might be the recently passed Hurricane Sandy, which is even now continuing to cause problems up and down the Eastern seaboard. From New York to North Carolina, millions have been devastated. The next few days will be crucial for the current incumbent. All eyes will be on the White House to gauge his response to the latest natural disaster to strike the U.S., and the President is acutely aware of this.

But when it’s all said and done, will Sandy really have an impact on the race? It’s too early to tell, but with Katrina still on the minds of many around the country, a repeat of 2005 would almost certainly spell disaster for the President. Mr. Romney, on the other hands, has had to answer to some inquiries of his own, as many have taken a second look at his stances on disaster relief, which include giving more autonomy to the states or the private sector in times of crises. Rhetoric or not, it has raised questions about how the challenger would respond to a crisis of this scale. For anyone still undecided this late in the race, there is certainly no shortage of information of advertisements coming from both sides of the aisle, but ultimately what could decide this race could be out of the hands of either party.
