Since WKNC is the only college radio station I can get at work, I listen to it for many hours during my workday grind. Though I'm thankful to have a college station available, I find that most daytime DJs at WKNC play only a handful of songs over and over and over again. In my humble opinion, there is no reason why a listener who is tuning into a college radio station for musical diversity and variety should be subject to hearing the same few songs repeated every day and every week, for months on end. A college radio station has the freedom to play whatever the heck they want at any time! Get loose with the playlists people! One of the lone exceptions to this rant is the DJ who goes by Chuck. He rocks the variety every time out!
ReplyDeleteI find the variety on WKNC to be exemplary to say the least. I have listened to a lot of other college stations and can honestly say that I find WKNC to be among the absolute top stations of its type. Its a lot better than the Los Angeles area stations, for example. Frankly, I am surprised at the Indie selections and how well the format works. Thank God for that, because outside of WSHA (another very outstanding station) the other stations in the triangle are pretty much crap - they are often unlistenable. At the current time, I would not change a thing, for whether you are fully aware of it, WKNC is a Star.
