DJ Ones' Five Music Facts of the past week



1. Among the biggest news of the week included The White Stripes finally calling it quits. The band released an official statement on their website discussing that they will not be recording any new material, or planning any future tours. The content they have yet to be released will be distributed on Third Man Records, Jack White's record label. (via whitestripes.com)

2. Hot Chip's lead singer Alexis Taylor has announced details on the second album of his side project. The side project, which is named About Group, will release their sophomore album called Start and Complete in April. (via NME)

3. Death From Above 1979 have unveiled new information about the band's reunion. After surprising information came out that the duo would be playing several festivals in the near future, drummer Sebastian Grainger has expanded upon the reasons for the reunion. He stated, "Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied. Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration. The collision of two different worlds." 4. The Ravonettes have lifted the veil about their new album. Their follow-up to 2009's In and Out of Control is titled Raven in the Grave, and will also get an early April release. (via ClashMusic)

5. The cast of Glee has recorded a mash-up between the king of pop himself Michael Jackson, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The mash-up between tracks Thriller and Heads Will Roll will be aired first after the Super Bowl on Sunday February 6. (via NME)

T-boz of TLC on "Real RnB Radio" audio clips and wrap-up

On 6/26, Mir.I.am had the chance to talk with R&B legend T-boz of the number one selling female group of all time, TLC, to discuss the first anniversary of Michael Jackson death and his contributions to the entertainment world.

T-boz, along with countless others, was deeply influenced and inspired by Jackson and called in to give her thoughts on the music icon.

In the revealing interview, T-boz explains the indelible imprint that Michael Jackson has left on music, society as a whole, and herself personally.

T-boz also recollects what it was like meeting Michael Jackson for the first time, shares her favorite songs and videos, and explains what Michael’s overall legacy should represent.

Tonight on "Real RnB Radio", Tionne "T-boz" Watkins, 1/3 of the number one selling female group of all time, TLC, will be calling in to share her favorite memories of the Iconic and Legendary, Michael Jackson.

T-boz, like many, was heavily inspired and influenced by Jackson, who passed away almost exactly one year ago.

We'll find out from T-boz what Michael meant to her personally, meeting him for the first time, and his overall lasting legacy.

Interview with Chilli of TLC: audio clips and wrap-up



Last night on "Saturday Night Soul and R&B", I had the pleasure of speaking with Chilli of the Grammy award winning, legendary and iconic R&B trio, TLC.

Join me, Mir.I.am and other special guest co-hosts, from 8 to 11 p.m. on "Saturday Night Soul and R&B" as we reminisce on our favorite memories of the ICON. Listen, as we reflect on Michael's  influence on music, fashion and pop culture. We will also reveal little known facts about the 13-time Grammy Award Winner and discuss the media coverage and speculation surrounding his untimely passing.

As Jackson's music was the soundtrack to many of our lives, expect to hear music from Hip-Hop and R&B artist directly influenced by him as well as our favorite hits.
